BIOGRAPHY

Ruth Benzaquén is a painter whose training began in the workshops of artist Mirta Kupferminc  and of Ernesto Pesce. She is now part of Viviana Zargón’s workshop with whom she has participated in several collective exhibitions. Ruth presented her first individual exhibition, “Interior Landscapes” (“Paisajes interiores”) in the Borges Cultural Centre (Centro Cultural Borges), Buenos Aires, Argentina in December 2008.
She also showed her work in collective exhibitions such as “Workshop Exhibition” in “Bar Abierto” in 2004 and “Emerging Artists” in the Galería del Ángel (Contemporary Art) in 2003. Ruth received a “Special Mention” in the “III Salón de Arte Tarbut” in 2002. She took part in the “XIX Salón Anual de Artistas Plásticos de San Isidro” (APSI) in 2002 as well as the collective exhibitions organized by the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino in 2001 and 2002.
In her search for theory she attended the “Seminar on Contemporary Art: Four lines of  Art analysis” (“Seminario de Arte Contemporáneo: Cuatro líneas de análisis de la obra de Arte”), by the lecturer Valeria González, in the “Programa de Extensión de Arte y Cultura del Centro Cultural Recoleta” (AAGA-CABA). Ruth also attended the XXth Century Art Seminar, lecturer Mario Orione in the Museum of Fine Arts, Buenos Aires (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes) in 2007. Additionally she carried out a highly significant critique of her work alongside Valeria González in the last stages of her production.
